Rebooting the Universe

Well, I've done it once again in the space of four months... This is a new version of Guitar.net, complete with an empty forum. It's up to us to get things going. We've done it before and we can do it again!
Seriously, there weren't that many posts in the forums, so I didn't think it was worth the effort to port things over. I hope it isn't too dissapointing for you guys. I'm sure we can find some new things to talk about soon enough. :-)

this post is about the new

A huge variety of mcts

A huge variety of mcts certifications is available, many of them offered by the software and hardware producers themselves. An excellent explanation of the value of the most popular ccie certifications can be found in an article by Michael J. Senno called Certification Equation. Certifications (most famous cisco certification) are especially important for consultants because hiring companies want to see proof of your expertise.

Thanks for that great

Thanks for that great information on Cisco certification training. In Senno's article, it's actually Barb Gomolski, an analyst with Gartner, who says "It's more important for consulting services and other companies selling IT services to have certified workers because companies hiring them want to see [proof of] expertise in particular areas."

Online Collaboration

Online Collaboration Guitar

Guitarists and Guitar Techs can use this page, where I think it would be cool to collaborate online now that we can easily pass around the stems of songs online.

I.e. I ask for 10 different people's take on a part... then come up with the best arrangement using all of the different ideas.

I'm gonna try that out of my site soon - KRONiS

This site has GREAT

This site has GREAT potential. If you could get the word out and convince some people to start talking about this and joining, we could all really get this thing going. Even more, you should think about selling a little bit of add space here. Then, you could even advertise on other pages with that money. This could end up becoming the No. 1 all around guitarist site.

Keep it Up

Although it looks like there

Although it looks like there isn't much happening around here at the moment, we're hard at work on a completely new site behind the scenes. We'll be sure to send you a note when it's ready to go. Thanks for supporting Guitar.net!

Existence

Just happy that guitar.net is back in exsistence.

Go Gawain.

Telecasters rule, everything else drools. That should set the record straight.....

Telecaster smackdown

Thanks dude! I'll consider myself properly bitch-slapped for not owning a Tele yet... Wanna H.A.B.U? (hook a brutha up?)

Perhaps I'm still traumatized from all the banjo jokes that came my way when I told my L.A. friends I was moving to Nashville. :D

I wil say this, however... I just got my PRS back from the shop today after a refret and other work and I think it may have some passably Telecasteresque tones now thanks to some serious rewiring. I had John do away with the old 5-way switch and put in a more traditional 3-way with a push-push knob for a coil tap. I think it's gonna be sweet but I'll have a lot more to say once I get to play with it a bit more. I may even write a proper article about the work.. Who knows...

Maybe some new pickups in the future too.. Thinking.

What kind of Tele tones do you prefer... The twangy Nashville variety, or the fatter Mike Stern neck pickup sounds? I was always amazed how he gets a Tele to sound like he does...

Talkin' Tele Smack.....

Neck pick-up for sure. Mine is a hand wound Jason Lollar P-90. He's a trip, and a major talented cat. You should see him and Seymour D. together, mad scientists. According to him it's really a steel guitar pick-up. Whatever. It is major thick and rich, but it can get pretty wonky. Since I'm primarily a rythym guy I just want the dang guitar to sound like my guitar, know what I mean?

Maple neck, the bridge is a six-place ash-tray from a Nashville Power Tele and Lollar did all the wiring and shielding and set-up. My buddy Brian had Lollar build it for, you already guessed it, Mike Stern like jazz tones, but the guitar was a bit too much of a rock/blues machine for that when they were finished. I hated to, but I took it off his hands for him.....

More here on the chump Tele.....

Yeah yeah, give us a rundown on the PRS mods.

Hike faster, I think I hear banjo music......

Whoo Hoo to You Too

Hi guys... Just wanted to say thanks for showing up. Hope you all (I'm not from Tennessee originally so I can't officialy say "y'all") decide to stick around as we rebuild our little community. ckbass, I know you've been out on the road a bunch lately. Got any "road stories" to share?
BTW.. I also wanted to mention that there's several options in your profile you may wish to fill out. You've got things like a picture, a "skill meter" and a couple other things. Suggestions for new fields are welcome.
