Remember MIDI guitar? Dude. This one has Lasers.

Contributed by Gawain Reifsnyder, Friday July 22nd, 2011I used to have a MIDI guitar system. Sometimes it was useful, but most of the time it was glitchy, slow to respond, and quick to add weird-notes-from-hades into my music, which made working with a sequencer a tedious and time-consuming chore.
M3i Technologies claims to have solved these problems by using laser beams (Ooooohhhh...) to sense which note is being played. It's claimed the system is much faster than the best current systems on the market, which at their best cause a delay of about 12 milliseconds before the note is sensed.
Expect a version of the system to hit the market sometime in 2012.
