Pete Townshend reveals plans for 'Quadrophenia' tour

Contributed by Gawain Reifsnyder, Tuesday July 26th, 2011

Pete Townshend has revealed that he plans to reunite with bandmate Roger Daltrey to perform their two-album rock opera Quadrophenia next year.

Townshend also revealed that he's working on a remastered version of the album that corrects some of the problems that he claims exist with the "high frequencies" that are outside the range of his hearing.

Townshend has a long history of struggle with his hearing, damaged from many years of playing in front of huge stacks of amplifiers.

In fact Daltrey claimed that as the reason why the Who guitarist isn't accompanying him on the road with his current Tommy solo tour, a claim that Townshend was quick to refute on his blog:

"The reason I am not on the road with Roger is that this is entirely Roger's adventure, one that is bringing him great joy… I don't belong on this Tommy tour. I wish him well, sincerely, and I look forward to playing with Roger again doing Quadrophenia next year."

While you're looking forward to catching the show, (I know we are!) take a listen to this performance of Love Reign O'er Me from the Royal Albert Hall in March, 2010.
