Forget "Gone Country." Vince Gill's Gone Metal

Contributed by Gawain Reifsnyder, Tuesday August 30th, 2011OK, maybe it's a little bit of a stretch to say that Vince Gill has gone completely over to the dark side, but he does play with quite a bit more distortion on his Telecaster than we're used to hearing on this collaboration with Alice Cooper, one of Rock-N-Roll's original bad boys.
Gill and Cooper collaborated on A Runaway Train, a knee-slapping country rock number. There's plenty of crunchy power chords, unison bends and a blistering, snarling solo. Way to go, Vince!
Although it may seem to be an odd coupling, Vince and Alice are good friends and have more in common that it would first appear. They're both devout Christians and avid golfers and have collaborated before, when Gill invited "his golfing buddy" Cooper onstage during intermission at a Nashville NFL football game.
A Runaway Train will be featured on Alice Cooper's forthcoming Welcome 2 My Nightmare release.
